Infest The Rats’ Nest marked a significant departure for Stu Mackenzie and the gang, trading their usual kaleidoscopic garage rock for Marshall stacks cranked to eleven and proper headbanging riffs. This album represents the band’s most focused and aggressive statement, influenced heavily by classic Metallica, Motorhead, and early Slayer – quite the shift from their typical genre-hopping approach. The environmental dystopia concept running through these nine tracks gave the Melbourne septet a perfect excuse to unleash their heaviest material to date.
