Here’s a piece of Poco history that often gets overlooked by casual fans but deserves serious attention from collectors of American country rock. “Cowboys & Englishmen” marked a fascinating period for the band – this was Poco during their brief MCA years, caught between their foundational country rock sound and the more polished production values that labels were pushing in the early 80s. What makes this particularly interesting is that it captures the band after Richie Furay’s departure but still features the core songwriting talents that made their earlier work so influential on the entire country rock movement.
