Here’s a pressing that captures the Bee Gees at a pivotal moment in their evolution from soft rock balladeers to disco kings. “Children of the World” marked their transition into the dance-floor dominance that would define the late seventies, featuring early iterations of the falsetto-heavy sound that would soon conquer Saturday Night Fever. This 1976 album showcases the brothers Gibb experimenting with funk rhythms and R&B arrangements, particularly on tracks like “You Should Be Dancing” which became a massive hit and pointed directly toward their disco future. The album was recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami, where they worked with producer Arif Mardin to craft a more rhythm-focused sound that would influence countless artists in the years to come.
