Sheffield producer Benedict returns for his fourth outing with London’s So’Fierce as he follows a trio of warmly received releases, continuing to refine his take on driving Chicago house. ‘Free (main mix)’ unfolds through rich banks of pads and taut, disciplined drums and held together by supple spoken-word vocals circling the theme of freedom. On the flip, ‘Free (deep mix)’ pares things inward, fastening the groove into something more heads-down and club-facing while keeping the same core elements intact. Two versions of the same idea but each leaning into a different shade of the floor.
