Here’s a Canadian first pressing of the Go-Go’s breakthrough debut “Beauty And The Beat” on I.R.S. Records from 1981. This album marked a pivotal moment in both punk and pop history – five women from the L.A. punk scene who crafted something entirely their own, blending the energy of their CBGB’s roots with irresistible melodies that would dominate MTV and radio. What many don’t realize is that this was the first album by an all-female band to both write their own songs and play their own instruments to hit number one on the Billboard 200, a milestone that took until 1981 to achieve.
