Here’s a pressing that bridges the gap between the experimental electronic underground and mainstream accessibility Mannheim Steamroller’s “Fresh Aire II” on American Gramaphone. Chip Davis created something truly unique when he founded this project in the mid-70s, blending baroque classical structures with synthesizers and rock instrumentation in ways that predated much of what we now call “new age” music. This second installment in the Fresh Aire series, released in 1977, showcases Davis’s compositional sophistication while maintaining the accessibility that would eventually make Mannheim Steamroller a household name through their Christmas albums.
